Privacy Policy

Effective July 21, 2026 · This is a reference translation. The Korean version is authoritative.

Wetree ("the App") values your privacy and complies with applicable laws, including the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of the Republic of Korea. This Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, stored, and destroyed.

This English version is provided for reference. In case of any conflict, the Korean version above prevails.

1. Personal Information We Collect

Sign-up & Authentication (Social Login)

The App does not collect a password and offers social login only.

  • We do not collect a profile photo. An emoji you choose in the App is used as your profile image.
  • Your nickname is pre-filled from your social login and can be changed at any time.

Information You Enter While Using the Service

Children are not users of the App. We do not provide child accounts or login. The above information is a record entered by a guardian for household and schedule management. We recommend using a nickname instead of a child's real name.

Automatically Generated Information

  • Daily access records (to show consecutive-day streaks)
  • Points earned from in-app activity
  • Number of times the AI card-statement analysis is used (to manage the free quota)
  • Merchant names for which you corrected a category (stored per family, to improve future analysis accuracy)
  • App usage analytics events (pseudonymous — screen views and key actions, amount ranges (buckets). Exact amounts, memos, and names are not included. For service improvement)
  • Error and diagnostic logs (device, OS, and app-version info when a crash or error occurs. For service stability)

Information We Do Not Collect

For transparency, the App does not collect the following:

  • Location (GPS) — We do not request location permission and do not store coordinates. "Place" is free text you enter.
  • Push notification tokens — All notifications are local notifications scheduled and shown only on your device. There is no server-sent remote push.
  • Exact financial content (amounts, memos) sent to analytics tools — Usage analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) receives only screens/actions and amount ranges (buckets) pseudonymously; exact per-transaction amounts, merchant names, memos, and names are not transmitted.
  • Card numbers, account numbers, resident registration numbers, contacts, call logs, or the device calendar
  • A child's date of birth

2. Purposes of Processing

  1. Member identification and authentication
  2. Providing services such as ledger, savings, schedule, and to-dos
  3. Sharing data among family members within the scope you set
  4. Automatic classification of card-statement images (AI analysis)
  5. Showing on-device notifications (per your settings)
  6. Serving ads and measuring their performance
  7. Service improvement, error handling, and responding to inquiries

3. Retention and Use Period

  • In principle, personal information is destroyed without delay upon account withdrawal.
  • Where a retention obligation exists under applicable law, we retain the data for that period.
  • The specific scope of destruction follows Section 5.

4. Data Sharing Among Family Members (Service Notice)

  • The App lets you connect with family or a partner to view data together.
  • Upon connecting, you set the sharing scope yourself (per-item visibility for expenses, savings, and income; sharing of schedules and to-dos). Only information within the scope you set is shown to others.
  • Items you set to "Private (only me)" and records entered before connecting are not shown to others (unless you separately make them public).
  • If you leave a family: the records you entered remain with the family, and you can no longer access them. We recommend exporting your data (CSV) before leaving.

5. Destruction of Personal Information

Upon Account Withdrawal

  • Account information (login identifier, nickname, profile emoji) is deleted immediately.
  • If you have family members: the household and schedule records you entered remain as the family's shared records, and your authorship is anonymized as "Withdrawn user." This is because shared household records are also the financial records of the remaining family members.
  • If you are using the App alone: all data and uploaded photos are deleted from storage as well.

Family Dissolution

If the family owner dissolves the family, all records and photos of that family are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

6. Provision to Third Parties

The App does not provide your personal information to outside parties, except where you have consented in advance, where there is a legal basis, or where there is a lawful request from an investigative authority.

7. Outsourcing (Processors) and Cross-Border Transfer

To provide the service, the App entrusts the processing of personal information as follows; the processors' servers are located overseas.

You may refuse the cross-border transfer. However, due to the nature of the data-storage infrastructure, refusal may limit your ability to use the service.

Notice on AI Card-Statement Analysis

  • When you run the "Organize card statements at once" feature, the card-statement capture images you select are sent to the Google Gemini API to extract dates, amounts, merchant names, and categories.
  • Images are not stored on the App server and are discarded after analysis. Temporary files left on the device are also deleted.
  • Only the number of times used is recorded, to manage the free quota.
  • This feature runs only when you initiate it and does not run automatically.

8. Personalized Advertising

  • The App serves ads to free users via Google AdMob.
  • In this process, an advertising identifier (iOS: IDFA / Android: Advertising ID) may be collected.
  • The advertising identifier is not linked to your name, email, or ledger content. We do not pass your financial data to Google to serve ads.
  • We do not serve ads to Family+ subscribers.
  • How to opt out
    • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track"
    • Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID

9. Children Under 14

  • The App does not allow membership for children under the age of 14. There is no child account or login.
  • "Child" information in the App is a record entered by a guardian for household and schedule management; it is not an account used by the child.
  • Child information (nickname, academy/class names, days/times, place, education fees) is shared only with members of the same family and is not provided externally.
  • A guardian may edit or delete child information in the App at any time.

10. Your Rights and How to Exercise Them

Account deletion is processed immediately within the App, with no separate application or approval process.

11. Security Measures

  • Access control: Row-Level Security (RLS) is applied to the database so that only you or members of the same family can access the data.
  • Encryption in transit: All communication is encrypted with HTTPS (TLS).
  • User-protection features: App lock (biometric authentication), "Private (only me)" lock, and amount-masking mode are provided.
  • No password storage: Because only social login is used, the App does not store passwords.

All permissions are optional. Even if you do not grant them, you can use the service except for the corresponding features, and you can withdraw them at any time in your device settings.

14. Duty to Notify

If there are additions, deletions, or changes to this Policy, we will provide notice through the in-app announcement or this page at least 7 days before the effective date (at least 30 days before for significant changes unfavorable to users).
